What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is like a gym session for your breath. It involves intentionally changing your breathing pattern to enhance mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Think of it as a superhero against stress and inflammation.

Everyday Breathwork Tools - How to do breathwork alone.

Now, let's dive into some breathwork exercises that you can sneak into your busy schedule:

4 -7 - 8 technique

Breathwork to relieve anxiety

My favourite breathwork technique to use when I'm feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or triggered.

How to: Nasal inhale for 4 seconds, Hold for 7 seconds, exhale out the mouth for 8 seconds

Box Breathing

Breathwork to relieve stress

Slow, intentional breathing with slightly pursed lips. Perfect for those "just got out of a meeting" moments.

How to: 4-4-4-4 rhythm, Inhale for four, hold for four, exhale for four, hold for four. Repeat for 2 minutes.

Physiological Sigh

Breathwork for when you are dissociating

Also known as the most scientifically proven method to create a state of calm in the body.

How to: Take a full diaphragmatic inhale, take an extra sip breath at the top, deep sigh exhale through the mouth. Repeat x 5

Energy Breathing

Breathwork for increasing energy

This breathwork technique is a great caffeine replacement! Do this first thing when you wake up and you will notice the difference.

How to: You can do this standing or sitting.

1.Take a deep inhale through the nose whilst bringing your arms up above your head, and then clench the fits and exhale with power, pulling the arms down in sync with the breath.

2.Repeat for 15 breaths

3. followed by an inhale and hold the arms up above the head for 30 seconds

4. Exhale allow yourself to notice any changes in the body, palms facing open on the knees

repeat
